City Home Page Organizational Structure
The City Home page has a sidebar and a top bar. Both the sidebar and top bar have links to each department in the City. The City home page also contains yellow boxes that display information, such as what is currently playing on UPTV, and links to important areas of the site.
How to use the top bar:
If you click a department name such as Police on the top bar, the link will take you directly to the department’s home page.
If you hold the mouse over a department name, a pop-up menu will appear with links to all of the divisions in each department plus links to other information that falls under that department.
- You may move your mouse inside the pop-up menu and click on a link to go directly to that division’s home page, and will by-pass the department’s home page.
- If there is an arrow next to the division name, hold the mouse over the division name and another pop-up menu with links to documents under that division will appear. You may use these links to by-pass the division’s home page.
The top bar remains stationary throughout the site to aid in navigation, and each department has it’s own sidebar.
How to use the sidebar:
The sidebar on the City home page has links to What's New, Quick Links A-Z, and all of the departments.
When you click on a link on the sidebar, it will take you to the department’s home page or a specific document on the web site.
The links under City Home will bring up a home page for a department that will also contain a sidebar with links to other documents that fall under that department or area.
Every sidebar on the site contains a link to the City home page (City Home).
What’s New is a page of links to recently added information and information that is continuously updated.
Quick Links is a directory of links to services and departments in the City of Urbana and our surrounding community.
Expand Frame, Sync Side to Main, Direct URL
These three links are located just below the top bar.
- If you would like to view a web page without the top bar and sidebar, click on the Expand Frame link located just below the banner. You may restore it by clicking on the Shrink Frame link located at the top left corner of the page.
If you clicked on a link that brings up a web page or document and the sidebar does not change, you may click on Sync Side to Main and the sidebar for the department that the document is under will display.
If you would like to e-mail someone a link directly to the page you are viewing, click Direct URL
You may copy and paste the link in your e-mail message.
Click the e-mail link and the link will automatically appear in an e-mail message.
